  • Flint, the urban revolution arrives on Kickstarter

Starts the crowdfunding campaign to support the perfect glasses to live the cities through the two  gestures that are changing them: walking and cycling

In the past, revolutions came about through battles, blatant gestures, great ideas that were  sometimes too abstract. Nowadays revolutions come through concrete actions Small gestures  that we make in our daily lives: what food we consume, what clothes we buy and where, what  accessories we choose and even how we move.

Flint, with its products, wants to promote and represent an entire movement: that of the new  urban mobility. The movement of those who can’t stand having inherited a world transformed into  a prison of cement and smog and who want to change it through two daily gestures: walking and  cycling.

Imagine yourself in traffic inside your narrow and uncomfortable car, stressed and late as always,  maybe your back hurts. The only thing you will see is the license plate of the car in front of you,  which, like a spring, moves away and comes closer.

At that point a young man on a bicycle whizzes past you. He is fashionable but not flashy, he has  a relaxed but determined look, he smiles with his headphones on; you don’t know if he is  listening to music or talking to someone. He certainly doesn’t seem disturbed by the inferno of  horns and clutches that surrounds you.

It may have happened to you. It’s the change driven by new habits and all those everyday  objects that make it possible. . Objects that become the symbol of a silent revolution, made of  actions and few words. The revolution that Flint, the eyewear brand that landed on Kickstarter  with the motto of “true activism is to be active”, wants to bring forward.

The design of Flint glasses, is designed so that they can be used daily by merging style and  performance. . The evergreen shapes are enriched by a double set of interchangeable temples:  one straght, for quieter moments, the other curl, for when you need speed and fast movements.

This is Flint’s manifesto: to be urban adventurers, with a different outlook from the past. Because  the imperative is “Pedal. Don’t drive. Run. Don’t be in a hurry. Be active. Don’t just be present.”

A metropolitan revolution through new and consistent actions and styles.

The Flint campaign has just started on Kickstarter and will last for 30 days. 15 thousand euros is  the goal to realize a project that is an icon of a metamorphosis already underway and of which  Flint wants to be an essential experience.

  • Things to do when movers are moving your stuff

For any homeowner, shifting to a new place and moving out is always stressful. This is because of packaging, labeling, lifting boxes, and transportation that are involved in it. However, these days, people choose movers to get all these things done right on time with perfection. When one of the moving companies that will move you out of state is a partner in the process, there’s nothing to be stressed about.

A professional mover can help you with easily packing goods and relocating them for you. When using a professional mover, there are a few significant points that you should keep in mind to make the experience as pleasant as possible.

Here’s a list of things that you need to do when movers move your stuff into your home:

Keep your furry friend away from the movers

Are you having pets in your home? If yes then make sure to keep them away from the movers as they can disturb them. Pets roaming around everywhere in the home, especially when the moving out process is going on can result in time wastage.

If the pets are friendly, and you think they won’t create any problem in the moving-out process then that’s perfectly fine. However, it’s not easy to keep the pets calm.

Try to keep your furry companion away from those areas where stuff is being moved out. Also, you can close your pets in a room with all their toys and food so that movers can do the work peacefully and efficiently.

Don’t disturb the movers with your guidance

The packaging and moving of delicate items can make some homeowners a bit concerned about their safe handling. In such a situation, many homeowners start guiding the movers about how they should handle and move the stuff.

Make sure to avoid disturbing them. Movers already know what and how to do as they are experts and experienced. They know what they are doing, so it would be better to let them do their job. Right from packaging to labeling fragile items, movers will do all these things with ease.

As they’re trained movers, you can rely on them completely. So, all that you need to do is to let the professionals do the moving out process their way. In case of any query, movers will come to find you for your assistance.

Before the moving day, finish the packing of personal belongings

On a moving day, there’ll be a lot of chaos. Thus, it would be better for you to pack your things before the moving day. When you do the packing on the same day as moving out, you might end up with a lot of time wastage. To make the movers do their work right on time in a streamlined manner, you should finish your packing of personal belongings a few days before moving out.

    Carry valuable items with you

All the valuable items such as jewelry and small electronics require special handling. These items need to be carried by yourself in your vehicle. Your main focus should be on how the movers are packaging, doing the heavy lifting, and moving the stuff. For this, make yourself free from the tension of packing your valuable items.

Moving day will be surely a hectic day for you so be ready with your valuable items a few days before the day of moving out. Complete the packing of all your personal belongings and valuable items so that you can concentrate on other things.

    Appreciate the mover’s work

Packaging and moving out stuff is not an easy job, it requires a lot of effort and smart work. Movers have to give their best for ensuring a hassle-free, safe and convenient moving of your stuff. Lifting boxes, labeling, and moving the goods out for transportation are some of the works that make them sweat a lot.

A little appreciation of their work and offering some refreshment can encourage them. With this, movers will surely feel touched and grateful. By appreciating their work and making the movers comfortable in the work, you can make the process of moving out hassle-free.

    Conclusion

To make the relocating process simpler, there’s a long list of things that you can do while the movers doing their work. Keeping your pets away, appreciating their work, and packing personal belongings ahead of time can help in making the moving out process hassle-free and quick.

  • Can Cartoons Actually Help With The Obesity Problem?

Unfortunately, obesity in children is a very real problem at the moment. This is an issue that has been extensively documented on television as of late. More and more parents are becoming concerned about their child’s eating habits. There has also been several health critics who believe as a nation people are not aware of what they are really eating. This is a problem, and it is a problem that needs to be tackled.

However, people are scared because they only see drastic measures as a solution. Furthermore, a lot of parents have not got a clue regarding where to start when it comes to deciphering what their child should be eating and what they should not. This is through no fault of their own, yet merely a signal of how difficult this is for most families. Nevertheless, there are some innovative solutions that can be used. These solutions may not be elaborate, yet they are effective. And one of these is to use cartoon advertising in order to help tackle obesity in children.

Children are more likely to listen to cartoons

Imagine the following two scenarios. Scenario one revolves around an advertisement whereby an adult is merely telling children they need to eat better food. Scenario two revolves around a popular cartoon show, such as the Tom and Jerry cartoon, whereby the main characters express the importance of being healthy. Who is the child most likely to listen to? In 99% of instances you could bet your bottom dollar that kids are more likely to take notice of Tom and Jerry. This is because they view the cartoon characters as fun and exciting. They will think; well if it is good enough for Tom and Jerry then it definitely is for me. However, if you are to go for the adult option then children may view healthy eating as a chore; this is because most children see anything their parents ask them to do is a task.

The cartoons themselves can help tackle obesity

A lot of people fail to acknowledge the positive messages showcased within these cartoons that relate to healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle. For example, in the Tom and Jerry cartoon you see just how much exercise the cat and the mouse get! This is of course not the main message behind the story, yet it indirectly promotes a healthy lifestyle within your child. There are more examples of this. For instance, there is Scooby Doo whereby the dog gets several treats known as Scooby snacks if he does well. This establishes the notion that treats are allowed, yet they are only allowed in moderation.

People view cartoons as fun, and therefore healthy eating will be fun too

Why do children like cartoons? The answer to this is rather simple; because they are fun. This is also why they like playing cartoon games on devices like a 15 inch gaming laptop. Therefore, if your child comes across a cartoon advertisement then they are also going to deem this as fun and exciting. This presents a fantastic basis for commercials because children are likely to be associated the advertisement with enjoyment. This means that you have a much higher chance of children wanting to eat healthily.

In the current day and age it can be very difficult to tackle obesity in young children. Nevertheless the combination of cartoons and strategic advertising can actually provide fantastic results.

  • Water Sports Activities You Can Enjoy on the Beaches of California

If you’re hitting the beach in California, there’s so much more to enjoy than just sunbathing and people watching (though those are pretty great ways to spend your time too). With a range of beaches across the state, there’s loads to do which will suit whatever type of traveller you are, but should you move from California to Georgia?

In this post, we’ll take a look at some of the best water sports activities you can enjoy in California. Hopefully, it’ll make it easier to plan your trip and you’ll know exactly where to head to enjoy the beach. Let’s check them out!

    Surfing

Surfing is synonymous with California. After all, where else did you think the Cali surf bro came from?! But it’s not just about that look, California has some of the best places in the world to surf, and it’s hardly surprising that in 2018 it was listed as the state’s official sport. 20th September is California Surfing Day, but you can enjoy awesome waves all year round. There are several surf schools in not only San Diego, San Francisco and LA, but in lots of the smaller towns and villages too on the coast. So, if you’re completely new to the sport there’s no need to worry. You’ll be in good hands!

The best places for surfing in California are Huntington Beach in Los Angeles, Surfrider Beach in Malibu, and most of the beaches in San Diego!

    Stand up paddle boarding

If you’re looking to chill out and get an excellent core workout at the same time, stand up paddle boarding might just be the sport for you. It’s the fastest growing board spot in the world right now, and it’s not hard to see why. La Jolla Shores is a great place to paddle board – look down and you’ll see beautiful marine life, that’s if you’re not too busy looking at the stunning scenery surrounding you. The great thing about paddle boarding is that you don’t just have to do it at the beach. Head inland and enjoy it on Lake Tahoe or one of California’s rivers!

If you’ve mastered stand up paddle boarding, you might want to give a different variation a go. How about sunrise yoga on your paddle board in the gently lapping waves, or SUP surfing at Huntington Beach?!

    Swimming

One of the things that might put you off water sports in California is the expense and perceived difficulty of renting equipment. However, with swimming all you need is a swimsuit and a pair of goggles and you’re good to go! Swimming is one of the best full body workouts and it’s also a low impact sport. It’s also a great way to see the beautiful scenery of the state’s beaches. Santa Monica and Venice Beaches in LA might be iconic in name, but they also offer calm water that’s perfect for a paddle. If you don’t mind the colder waters, head straight out into the Pacific Ocean at Zuma beach in Malibu!

    Sea Kayaking

Kayaking is not only an awesome workout, but it gives you a chance to navigate sea caves and spot wildlife. Like stand-up paddle boarding, it offers the chance to see the ocean from a different perspective. Make sure to bring a camera so that you can take pictures up close with sea lions or unusual rock formations!

La Jolla Shores are another great place to try kayaking, while you might just see flying fish at Catalina Island or navigating through one of the largest sea caves on the planet in the Channel Islands National Parks. And don’t worry about the barking – it’s just the sea lions.

By the way, an electric trolling motor can make your sea kayaking more comfortable and easier.

    Snorkelling and Scuba Diving

You may consider scuba diving and snorkelling as more of a passion than a water sport, but considering it works a lot of muscles and is quite the challenge, it’s definitely a sport in our book. Those who prefer not to venture out into the deep ocean can snorkel closer to the shores, while scuba diving is a bucket list activity for many.

One of the best places for snorkelling and scuba diving in California is Catalina Island – where you’re likely to come face to face with a range of colourful tropical fish. Others include Anacapa Island and Santa Cruz Island.

    Whale Watching

Okay we get it, this isn’t strictly a water sport. However, if you’re planning to hit the beach in California, you’ll be kicking yourself if you didn’t know you could go whale watching! Visit Southern California in the summer and you might just have the chance to get up close and personal with the world’s biggest mammal – the blue whale! Whale watching isn’t solely about whales, you’ll also have the opportunity to interact with dolphins and seals too.
