    If You Leave Magazine

If You Leave is an online photography gallery started in 2009 by London-based Laurence Von Thomas, with more than 500 contemporary photographers featured and 4 books published in the past few years. We recently talked about If You Leave showcase, the photography exhibition that If You Leave organised in London in October 2014, which coincided with the release of the project’s first issue of its bi-annual magazine.

If You Leave #01 doubles as a show catalogue for the showcase and includes 10 prints by the artists featured in the exhibition. The magazine’s first issue is beautifully designed, with a hard cover containing a folder with the prints and the magazine itself printed in 100gsm recycled paper. The magazine is supported by the app that If You Leave created for the exhibition, allowing the reader to access interactive content on some of its pages.

With a focus on online photography and how photographers use online platforms, the first issue features selection of photographs taken from Instagram and Tumblr profiles and conversations on Facebook between If You Leave‘s editor Laurence Von Thomas and photographers Clemens Fantur and Luke Byrne. If You Leave #01 also dedicates some of its pages to photo books, including a selection of independent publications curated by London-based distributor and publisher Antenne Books.

  • Nothing in the world but you by Rosaline Shahnavaz

Nothing in the world but you by Rosaline Shahnavaz

Rosaline Shahnavaz is an English photographer based in London whose work has been featured in publications such as AnOther, Dazed Digital, Aesthetica and TANK.

Rosaline has recently published ‘Nothing in the world but you’, a zine showcasing personal photos of her boyfriend Ben shot on different trips and escapes they’ve taken to just be together and away from everything else. The film images give the viewer an intimate insight into the couple’s relationship and the times spent together in those remote places.

In a recent interview with the Telegraph, Rosaline talked about one of her favourite images, which is featured in the zine (third photograph below): “We’d had a long day driving and gone for a swim and then collapsed in the room, I like the way he has angled his face so that the light lit him quite beautifully. It wasn’t planned or staged, it was just spontaneous. It was a very tender moment. The way he looks so relaxed, it’s as if I’m not there. He is able to be totally himself in that photograph.

If you’re interested in buying a copy of ‘Nothing in the world but you’ you can contact Rosaline at rosaline.s@live.com

    Herb Lester Associates Travel Guides

Since we introduced the City Guide section on Future Positive, we pay a lot of attention to city guides available in bookshops. When travelling, we try to avoid the most touristy spots in the city and always look for places that will let us experience the city as it really is.

While planning our next trip, we came across Herb Lester Associates illustrated guides. These compact guides present a great curation of places with tried and tested tips on how to get around the city and make the most out of your trip. Each map presents a digestible selection of shops, cafes, places to eat, galleries, museums and parks – perfect for a weekend away.

We’ve already got our hands on the Barcelona guide. Have a look at their website for a full list of cities across the globe!
