Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy has received considerable attention in the last days. Much of it is due to growing evidence of its effectiveness in the treatment of a wide range of illnesses. The advertising campaigns of PEMF hardware vendors have also contributed to the therapy’s increased visibility.
This, however, has raised concerns as to whether it is all a ruse. This is a popular charge leveled against anything that gains popularity. So, what then is the truth but what are the lies about PEMF? What prerequisites does this therapy help with? What, more pertinently, are the genuine systems?
This non-invasive therapy is regularly used in conjunction with other conventional treatments to revive and assist other body systems. We’ll look for how it appears to work, what data proves it, and which unsubstantiated accusations to avoid.
Is PEMF Therapy Beneficial?
PEMF therapy was shown in multiple studies to be useful as a treatment for a broad variety of conditions. They do not just assert the advantages of PEMF, but also for greater clinical trials.
PEMF therapy improves health at the molecular level. Numerous studies prove its efficacy in the treatment of particular conditions such as osteoarthritis (OA), fractures, and pain control.
COMMON MYTHS ABOUT PEMF THERAPY
- PEMFS AREN’T EFFECTIVE
With all the research available on the effectiveness of magnetic field therapies I find it very frustrating that this is still a common refrain. What that tells me is that people simply aren’t doing the review of the research required to discover the benefits of PEMF therapy. Decades of research support the effectiveness of therapeutic PEMFs, though there is still a lot to learn about how and why this type of therapy is so effective. But, this is true for most other types of therapies too.
- PEMFS ARE DANGEROUS
Again, this myth comes from a lack of understanding. The research easily refutes this claim. Every study conducted has backed up the safety of this type of therapy, showing no significant adverse side effects — which certainly can’t be said for treatment with prescription drugs!
- PEMFS ARE INADEQUATE.
I find it incredibly infuriating that, despite every one of the current studies on the effectiveness of strong magnetic therapies, this is a constant theme. That informs me that people are not able to conduct the required research to learn about the advantages of PEMF therapy. Generations of research support the efficacy of therapeutic PEMFs, but there is still much to learn about why this form of therapy works so well. This holds for the vast majority of these other types of therapies as well.
- PEMFS CAN be DANGEROUS
This myth is based on a lack of comprehension. The research easily refutes this claim. Every research that has been conducted has supported the security of this sort of treatment.
- THERE ARE ONLY A FEW WORKING FREQUENCIES.
The considered to have great varies greatly between pathologies. Whilst others argue as to what frequency is “best” for PEMF therapy, I reassure my customers that all that is best now for a particular condition may not be best later. It matters what you’re attempting to solve! Because your physiological makeup has an effect, what tends to work for one individual may well not work for that other?
- ONE INDIVIDUAL OUTPERFORMS THE OTHER
Some other common misunderstanding is that PEMF therapy can only be efficacious and useful at one intensity. In actuality, the intensity needed is ascertained by the medical condition being treated. The vast majority of PEMF systems available on the market
Despite its numerous benefits, PEMF elevates the body’s natural process of recovery, rectifies cellular dysfunction, encourages and exercises cell lines to recharge cells, enhances athletic performance, reduces swelling and infection, and helps you recoup from injuries sustained faster.
